Volunteers will be responsible for assisting the SD Reader team on site during the event in a variety of jobs. Our volunteers will be assigned jobs such as: greeting guests, guest check-in, guest directing, ticket scanning, id’ing, wrist-banding, cashiering, assisting our vendors in their booth, making ice runs, and vendor load-out.

Your main responsibilities are to offer assistance and information to our guests and staff. 21+ event — Must have a valid government-issued photo ID to enter.

Join friends and neighbors for a town hall event on Wednesday, June 8 at 6:30pm. The Golden Hill CDC invites residents and businesses to submit challenges and hopes for Golden Hill after a short presentation on the latest neighborhood revitalization efforts. Nutritious breakfast and lunch are available FREE to all children 18 years and under. This program offered in partnership with the San Diego Unified School District and Feeding San Diego. Meals are available to go (children do not need to be present) and no paperwork is required.

Teens are invited for a FREE Friday evening of fun activities and dinner. Activities include game trucks, rock walls, arts & crafts and more. REGISTRATION

Registration for all classes is on a first come, first served basis. The City accepts all major credit cards. You must register at the Recreation Center where your class is scheduled or on-line at www.SDRecConnect.com. Registration fees must be paid by the first class of the session/month. To find your class use Activity # listed in this program. Summer season: Fees for 3-month classes are valid from June 1 to August 31. There is no prorating. Registration starts May 15 at 10:00 AM.

The City of San Diego, County of San Diego, San Diego Parks Foundation, and Price Charities have partnered to introduce the Come Play Outside Program. The program will feature free movies in the park, teen nites, Fern Street Circus performances, discounted camps and classes, and scholarships. For more information about programs and initiatives supported by the San Diego Parks Foundation, visit www.sandiegoparksfoundation.org.

Volunteers from Golden Hill businesses, schools, and community groups will team up with San Diego City Councilmember Stephen Whitburn and County Supervisor Nora Vargas to beautify the neighborhood. All materials plus refreshments will be provided. Volunteers are welcome to sign up either individually or as a group at goldenhillcdc.org/events.

“With a mix of eclectic businesses and over 75 designated historic buildings, Golden Hill is one of San Diego’s finest neighborhoods. The GGHCDC is committed to revitalizing our community, and we know our neighbors are eager to lend a hand,” states the event’s organizer, Alex Ward. “Through the Community Clean Up, we aim to provide a way for people to help keep Golden Hill beautiful.”

“Neighborhood cleanups embody the spirit of community,” said Councilmember Stephen Whitburn. “Neighbors coming together to pitch in to make their communities a better place to live, and play brings a sense of pride and makes our communities stronger. I am grateful to everyone who will be giving of their time on a Sunday morning to spruce up Golden Hill.”
